Author talk with M V Kasi

Books come in forms of short story, novella, and novel. Authors, mostly have the specialty in writing one or two forms. But, Author M. V Kasi has been a bestseller in all the forms.

She is an inspiration to many and also for me. So, I couldn’t wait to ask questions related to her journey of becoming a best seller.

How does it feel to be the author of bestselling books?

MV Kasi: I feel very blessed that the readers are able to connect with my stories and writing.

When did you start writing what was your goal?

MV Kasi: When I began writing, I had zero expectations. It began as a hobby that I was extremely passionate about. Writing was (and is still) a need inside me that I fulfill.

How do you approach a story?

MV Kasi: I draw inspiration for a story from several things that I have either heard, seen or read. Most of my stories are character driven, especially the lead female character. And as the story progresses, I enjoy developing the characters, making my leads go through several trials and tribulations until they finally reach their happily-ever-after.

What do you feel is the essence of a good story?

I personally feel the core of a good story is in the simplicity and relatability. Even with several subplots and complex characterizations, the essence of a good story should be simple and readers should be able to relate or empathize with the characters of the story.

Who is your inspiration to write?

MV Kasi: I began writing for myself. The inspiration continues to come from within and is well-supported by my family.

Many authors mention they don’t get paid well, but you are a full-time author, earning sound from your books. Can you share us your journey from being a part-time writer to a full-time writer?

MV Kasi: I’m yet to turn into a full-time writer. 🙂 After 15 years of working as a corporate employee in the IT sector, I have recently begun my next phase of life as an entrepreneur. Although my writing hours are not that many, with my current flexible working hours combined with a good support system, I plan my writing time well-ahead of time.

Have you ever approached any traditional publisher?

MV Kasi: No. But lately, a few of them have approached me with offers to publish my work with them.

What is your advice to aspiring authors?

I’m not very good at giving advice. 🙂 All I can say is to never give up on writing because of a few setbacks. Read a lot of books and continue to write while also keeping in mind to put in the best of your writing ability into your books.

Captive is a best seller on Amazon. Can you share with us a bit about the story?

MV Kasi: The Captive is a romantic suspense with a few elements of a thriller. It is a story of a married woman who was seemingly leading a fairy-tale life. She gets kidnapped and is taken to an unknown location. The rest of the story is about how she survives her captivity and who her captor is and why she was kidnapped by him. It is also an unconventional love story between the woman and the captor.

What is the next project you are working on?

MV Kasi:  I’m currently working on a romantic comedy. It’s another movie star romance. The male lead is an entitled movie star and the female lead is an opposite of him in character and the lifestyle she leads. It’s a lighthearted romance, which I’m thoroughly enjoying to write. I’m hoping that the readers would enjoy reading it, too. 🙂

How many books have you written so far?

MV Kasi: Nine

What’s the maximum number of books you released in a year?

MV Kasi: Four
